The earliest locks in the world originated from Chinese wooden locks. Early wooden locks have been found in the Yangshao cultural site 5000 years ago. In some historical documents of the Zhou Dynasty (1046 BC-256 BC), there have been records of locks and keys in warehouses. Early wooden locks simple in structure and cumbersome in shape. They used bamboo poles and wooden sticks as keys and easy to open.

Because the wooden lock was not strong enough, it was later made of bronze, but the structure was simple. In the Han Dynasty (206-220 BC), a copper structure lock appeared. It used the elastic force of two or three plate-shaped copper plates to achieve the closing and opening function. The safety performance and confidentiality greatly improved compared with the wooden lock. step.

In the 8th century AD, the ancient Romans made a leaf lock, using the key teeth to flip the blade gap in the lock to switch. In the 18th century AD, the Englishman Dannick Porter invented the cam rotary lock. The metal leaf in the lock is rotated by a spring. When the key is inserted into the lock, the rotary leaf must first touch the notch of the tongue to open. In the 19th century, European manufacturers invented high-grade cam rotary locks, and the number of teeth on the keys increased to 1,600.

In 1848, the American Yale invented the pinball lock, which has become the most commonly used lock in the world. The principle of the pin lock is to use multiple cylindrical parts (lock springs, pins or beads) of different heights to lock the lock cylinder. The structure of the modern pinball lock has new developments, and there are two-way, three-way and four-way pinball structures, which greatly improve the security performance of the lock.

After the 1970s, Britain developed a magnetic lock, Austria designed a magnetic coded lock, and Japan invented a magnetic lock with a disk rotation mechanism. After the 1980s, with the development of electronic technology, my country and some other countries have successively developed new and multi-functional locks such as electronic  locks, electronic remote control locks, light control locks, voice control locks, and safety alarm locks.

In the late 1990s,  locks with biometric functions appeared in some countries. The biometric  lock uses human biological characteristics such as voice, fingerprint, eye iris, and face as a password, and is identified and controlled by a computer. Biometric recognition is based on the inherent physiological or behavioral characteristics of human beings, including fingerprint recognition, iris recognition, face recognition, palmprint recognition, voice recognition, etc. For example, using iris recognition technology, people do not need to bring the key, nor do they need to move their mouths and hands when they go home. They only need to look at the lock to open the door.
